Found this on EBAY can pull 29" on 115v. Now where did I put those dern bags. :D

I don't know about bags, but that would suck the bottom out of a thin bowl.

Nice find. It amazes me at how many different "varieties" of vacuum pumps that Gast has produced...some of them (like this one) look like something out of the Starship Enterprise...but they all do the same thing! LOL

I spent 143.00 for this pump on ebay, the retail on this is like 2-something.

Surplus Center has one for $89, but is 230V only which presents a problem for some people.

JWW has a rebuilt Gast for $165. You don't really need one that will pull 29" though, 23 is sufficient for most things. If you go above 25", you can mess up the veneer.

Are you going to use it continuously or set up a cycling pump ala Joewoodworker?

cycling, however it is a continious duty. The vacuum gauge read almost 29 but I expect 21-23 when it's on a bag.
