Hello,
I had a bit of a scare the other day where one of my Freud router bits sheared off at the shank (1/2") while making dados (I was making a 13/32" deep cut with the 3/8" solid carbide spiral upcut bit at 21,000 RPM in white ash). I took out the router from the lift today to inspect it and it seems that only the bit has damage but I can't find where the part that sheared off is (it may have gotten sucked up by my dust collector, potentially) and I want to make sure that my router bottom is supposed to look the way it does in the attached image so just looking to compare.

Looks good to me, but if you have a 690/890, look at their collet. Both use the same collet nut, so insides should look the same.

My 7518 looks similar to your photo...the recess inside of the spindle is stopped so nothing can go anywhere. It allows a reasonable length of tooling shafter to go beyond the collet, but the tooling should never be bottomed out, which you likely know.
