I got news for you...cyclones need their bins emptied, too, as blow-by can even be worse when it plugs your cartrige filters! I have a 4" square clear window made of 1/4" lexan in my cyclone's bin lid to insure I can easily inspect the level of debris. It doesn't take long to fill things up, especially when one is jointing a planing a lot of rough lumber...I did four 55 gallon "fills" thee weekends ago when I was milling a bunch of poplar...all in one day.

looks to me like you got it right on time! Only 5-10 lbs on the floor, right? I think most of us have done much worse than that. Join the club, Markus! ;)

don't feel bad- i was in exotic hardwoods last week and they had a massive blow out- covered pretty much the back end of the building including us customers. was kinda funny once it was over....

Need to get some sides on it one of these days. Wind likes to blow it around and out of trailer sometimes. Steve

That's not bad at all. I caught mine just in time the other day, but usually wait until it's so full it takes me 5 minutes to get the bag out of the 'bars' on the JET. And by that time, there's plenty up on top waiting to fall out. I'll take a picture next time. :p

Markus,

I must admit this used to happen to me. Years ago I also moved my DC bags to the attic and built a 400 gallon plywood box that I parked in back of my workshop. Once the plywood deteriorated I burned the box and now I just blow it all out back in a pile. When the size of the pile reaches a trailer load I spread it over my 4 acre back yard. It's amazing how fast the chips disappear this way. Of course walnut chips I generally burn and I normally don't use any exotics that are on the dangerous wood list.

I wish everyone could use this type of disposal, it is really nice not having to worry about the bags and the performance of my DC is awesome since there is no back pressure. The sawdust pile never exceeds 10 foot in diameter.

I've seen an article where the shop compressed their chips into small blocks and then used them for heating. This would be great for me if it were cheap to get the blocks made.

Keith,

unfortunatly, my shop is pretty much a cave. no windows and the only direction to blow wood chips and dust out would be into the courtyard of the restaurant next door. i don't think their patrons would appreciate that. For me, i have to collect everything, bag it and pay to have it hauled off. Part of city life. every once in awhile, i sneak a couple bags out with the garbage across the street if i work late and theirs is sitting out to be picked up. here in new york, that is considered illeagal dumping which is a felony. let's keep that just between us.. i have a small 1/2 yard dumpster here in my shop which i just pay to have emptied. keeps things easy.
