Stanley#3 type 11 question

Picked up a #3 for 10 bucks and removed all the rust etc and it seems in good shape. One thing I didn't find in relation to dating this plane. It has a 2 stamped in the cast iron under the tote. Is this an after market thing? Or a standard Stanley mark.

Might be from when it was cast? Pattern number....Hmmmm...may have to look under the handle on mine....someday...kind of busy, right now...

I had to tear mine down anyway....and sharpen the iron....checked under the tote....no numbers..
