Here's one more to wrap up my Christmas vacation turning spree. Madrone burl, roughed to 1/2-5/8" thick then soaked in the alky bath. Worked like a charm!:D Got some movement while it was drying, but not one crack. Finish turned to 1/8-3/16" thick. 9" diameter by 7" tall, polished lacquer finish.

Travis...I just don't know how you do it. Everything you touch is golden. It's just gorgeous all around.

Perhaps you can send me some of your DNA...a blood sample or something.... :)

Thanks everyone.;)
Carole, I think there's 6 coats on it, I lost track as I would just shoot another coat on throughout the day.

What amazes me is how young Travis is. I had no idea. He looks 4 maybe 5 in his avatar.

What a great piece Travis! Are you doing the show circuit or are you selling these some other way?

Outstanding, Travis. Beautiful form and beautiful material!!

The photos are also good considering how very, very difficult it is to shoot a glossly object...

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments. Chris, I do 2-3 shows a year right now. I don't have the time, nor the desire to get into the show circuit. I have some things in a couple local stores, plus I could arrange to sell something from my website.

Durn!!! That thing is beautimous!! You just sparay lacquer on? No rubbing? Maybe thats what went wrong with my first attempt at lacquer. Can you brush it on or wipe it on?

HA! I wish! I used Deft spray lacquer. Each coat was knocked down with 0000 steel wool. Wet sanded with water and 1000-2500 grit wet/dry sandpaper after it cured, then buffed with a flannel cloth and paste fiberglass polish.;)
