What do you use as a vise to hold small or rounded parts?

Small Jorgensen handscrew clamps.

#3/0 is about 6" long.

Thanks Jim. Brilliant. That stimulated me to look up Jorgensen clamps as a vise which led me to this article on all kinds of clever uses for these clamps. https://timothycoleman.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Clever-Clamping-Tricks-Final.pdf.

It depends upon what operation is going to be performed. Jim's suggestion is good for a lot of things.

There are a number of nice, above bench vise solutions that are ideal for smaller and more delicate parts and most also provide rotation. You can even mount them on something that allows you to clamp them to the bench when in use or into a "regular" vice for convenience.

Dubuque Mirro Moose brand hand screw clamps are still made in USA, unlike Jorgensen nowadays.

Their smallest is 4" long, with 2" reach, and 2.25" max opening.
Their largest is 14" long, with 7" reach and 10.25" max opening, and 4 more sizes in between.

I find hand screws are the most useful, versatile and often-used clamps I own.
