Heres one I did out of walnut, purpleheart and curly maple. Finished with BLO. If I remember right it ended up around 8 or 9 inches

And yes I have this addiction with cutting and gluing things together ;)

That is great. I like the simplicity and straightforwardness of the design. It really sets of the wood.

I'm a big fan of KISS, keep it simple stupid. Oh though its not quite as easy as it looks. Its not difficult but you to have to plan out how your going to glue it all together and the angles have to be cut right on.

Oh just start cutting and gluing Jeff. Thats how I got started. I made lamps early on and I glued stuff up with no idea how it was going to come out. Some of came out nice some of it came out, well shall we say differant. But thats part of how I figured out how to see how things would look before I turned it. Sometimes I see it right and sometimes it comes out completely differant than I planned.
