The vanity I been working on is moving along. I got my hands on a pile of spalted curly maple, and basically it was just enough to build the face frame, doors and drawer fronts. I tried to keep the spalted parts to the doors and drawer fronts and the curl in the face frame. I wish I had a bit more of it so I could have been a bit more picky about some of the parts. The base is already in 'finishing' and there is one door to show the spalting.

Nice progress Justin. The door will be decorative...looking forward to the finish pics.

You can add the word Ambrosia to describe that maple. Spalted, curly, Ambrosia maple. Those dark streaks with the worm hole in them were caused by the larvae of the Ambrosia beetle.

John,

Thanks - lot's of descriptions for this wood. It's really cool to see it all come together in the doors and drawer fronts. I just put the last coat of poly on the back of the doors and drawers and you can see spalting, curl and the ambrosia

I can get some more close ups tomorrow morning...

The fronts look really cool, at least for me. 1 more coat of poly and they are done. The doors were also my first time book-matching wood since I got my bandsaw and could resaw.

Making some progress.

This is the right side of the vanity. It's now off the 'assembly' table and the left side just got moved into place and i'll try to work on it this weekend. My wife just came home (an hour ago) with a pile of tile and now it's time to carefully tear out the old kitchen backsplash, redo the sheet rock and install new tile.

If your taking pics with your phone.
I've found if I edit the picture on my phone before uploading on my PC it stays locked in the rotation I want it.
So I'll go to the edit in my gallery, do the "auto enhance" save and then upload to the pc. Works everytime for me.

Thanks --- I am trying it - this is a test upload...446378 It looks like it might have worked. Strange i've never had this issue in the past... Thanks for the fix.
