While I am waiting on chuck to arrive I have a question. I bought 2 black locust bowl blank 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" X 5 1/2". He said they were waxed and partially seasoned. Does this means it is still green or fairly green? How should I handle it? Do I use the alcohol and paper trick? What do I need to look for? Thanks.

It's still going to have moisture in it. You'll need to rough it out, put it in the alcohol soak over night and wrap it in newspaper and allow to dry for about 15 days. It takes years for a thick blank to be considered dry. I've got some that's still in log form from 3 years ago and they still have enough mositure in them to "move" after roughing.
