General 220 mortiser oil cup thread size

Hello,
I am restoring a General 220 hollow chisel mortiser that once belonged to a high school's woodshop class. It was abused, but still in good shape. There are two oil cups that hold oil for the motor dovetail ways (pictured below). One of them broke before I purchased the machine. The manual does not specify the thread size or size of the cup, just "Oil cup No. 801." I don't have a thread gauge that matches the thread of the oil cup.

Does anyone know the size of the cup and its thread size?

Pipe thread maybe?

That's all McMaster shows in that style.

I would guess 1/8 or 1/4 npt. if made in North America. Anywhere else it may be British pipe thread.

They make "nipple extractors" for removing broken pipe. A bolt remover will probably work fine for one time use.

Gits oil cup is one common brand and search term. There may be felt inside the nipple to wick oil slowly into the bearing and not just let it all leak out at once. Or it could be full of sawdust soaked in oil.

Funny thing is that Gits has an item 0801 which is 1/8-27-npt Style Y oiler. Might be the one you are looking for.

Looks like the part your looking for is P-35 = Oil Cup No. 801.
I’ve rebuilt a couple of General machines and they use a lot of off the shelf parts. Haven’t worked on a 220 though. All the oilers I’ve came across on Generals were Gits and the Gits part number usually shows up somewhat in the General pat number.
I think the part John listed above is what your looking for.

Thanks everyone. I measured the "good" oil cup on my General 220. Though the measurements with a digital caliper is not an exact match with Gits's specs, they are close. Maybe the Gits 00801 Y-elbow oil cup is the one. I will order one and see if it fits.

Easy and cheap is to buy a 1/8" NPT nipple and see if it fits. It may be useful for air compressor work later. use lots of thread seal since you are forced to turn it 360 degrees at a time.

At that price I wonder if a vertical one and a street elbow would be cheaper. A street el and pipe plug would be tons cheaper for sure.
