Replacing Delta jointer motor with one horsepower single phase

The motor on The original 6in jointer ended so can I buy A1 horsepower single phase motor and mount it 2 a four legged stand?

Additionally the original motor was built into cast iron unit on a pivot mechanism

It can be done as long as the pulley size matches the motor rpm to equal the same rpm at the cutter head. You need the weight of the motor to help stabilize the cabinet so it needs to hang on brackets.
