I figured since I've been poking my nose in here on and off the last couple years I should share a little. This was turned from a piece of curly ash a friend sent me from NY. Not being able to leave well enough alone I cut it apart and glued some walnut stripes in it. Ended up about 10 inches in diameter. Finish is sprayed on Watco lacquer

Robert - That is a beautiful piece! Thanks for sharing.

Couple of quick questions, if you don't mind.

Do you worry about cross grain gluing issues?
Do you worry about seasonal movement issues with the cross grain.
Was that a solid chunk of ash to begin with? On the top of Photo #1 it almost looks like a glue joint, but I sure can't see anything related to it in Photo 2 or 3.Again, well done.

Thanks Guys!

Ken I've found if I keep the strip thin I haven't had much trouble with movement. So far I haven't had any problems with gluing either.
Yes it was a soid chunk of ash.
