I built this sleigh bed for my daughter last year. It is a simplified version of the traditional sleigh bed design, in that the head and footboards have flat panels instead of curved.
The posts and rails are poplar. The panels are 1/2" birch plywood. The long rails have tenons that fit into mortises in the posts, and are secured using traditional bed bolts. The holes are covered with bed bolt caps. All rails have bead detail on the edges. It has an oil base white painted finish.
Thanks for looking. I am building a night stand now to match.
