Those of you who have had trees milled - what's the minimum size of an oak that would make it worthwhile to mill? The trees I'm thinking of are a white oak variety, if my understanding is correct (pointed leaves = red oak, rounded leaves = white oak). I know there are a lot of post oaks in the area, but if these are post oaks, they're much larger than the average.

Also, there's one with a huge burl, about 15 inches across. Any ideas of what that might fetch?

Thanks,
Dan Gill

Most mills around here, and I did also when I had my woodmizer, was 12".

I usually balk at anything under 16" but then again I'm sawing in Memphis, where it only takes 15 years for them to get that big.
