I'm thinking about making a bench with a normal plywood top and then adding multiple panels on top that can slide out but when all are pushed back it looks fairly seamless. Think a kreg foreman or benchtop jointer that sliding out provides room for the material to go through the machine without other things on the bench interfering.

What type of drawer slides would be best for this application? I think flat mount rated standard slides would conceal well but im not sure they would be strong enough for the application and something like blum undermount would show too much and i dont think would work on just a flat panel. Any thoughts?

Your description is fuzzy. How about a sketch?

Think of the bottom panel of the cabinet as the top of the bench. The pull out a secondary sliding top.
