Just received my new used 140L skew block plane in ductile iron from eBay. I may not use it as much as some may but will enjoy it when I do. Now I'd like to find an R.

John,

You might be surprised, I use the RH one a lot and often wish I had the LH version. Which could happen sooner than later :p.

John, one of my favorite tools – great for making raised panels. Enjoy

Did LN discontinue this plane? Not seeing it listed on their website...

Lie Nielsen and Lee Valley are both having trouble with production due to the corona virus.

I have one of the first LN Skew Block Planes made. I found it in a sorry state on eBay in 2008 ..

The story is here: http://www.inthewoodshop.com/ToolRestorations/LNSkewRabbetBlockPlaneRestoration.html

This is how it arrived ...

It required a complete rebuild as rust had welded parts together. Thomas Lie Nielsen came to my aid as the parts were not compatible with the current version (the body was slightly larger). New W1 blade (last of the old stock), new side, and new fence.

The subfence is Tasmanian Blackwood (same as Koa) ...

I managed to snag a beautiful Cocobolo knob ...
