I spilled a few quarts of water on the countertop. It ran over the edge and down into the drawers. Doh!!

I would like to add a drip edge to the countertops so spills will drip clear of the drawers. I'm thinking a strip of rubber half round about 1/4" x 1/8" but don't know where to get it. Ideally it would be peel and stick.

Any suggestions?

My 1949 countertop has a small groove cut into the underside of the lip near the edge. About a sawblade width and depth. That could be done with a router on edge. Just make sure the near edge of the groove is closer then the drawer fronts.

You could try vee seal self adhesive weatherstripping available at most big box stores. https://images.homedepot-static.com/productImages/f8b2c5d6-2c7e-4bc5-bed7-7f6838c0ded1/svn/white-frost-king-foam-tapes-m13wh-64_1000.jpg

So, water drips over the edge, runs down the front, then, because of the adhesion between water and the underside of your countertop, it runs to the face of your cabinet and down into the drawer.

Try taking a bar of soap and rubbing it on the underside of your countertop. Test it. If it works, make it part of the sop of cleaning your countertop, or maybe less often.
