I've been casually looking for a drum sander and a Powermatic DDS-225 recently became available locally. There are a few reviews of it on the forum but wondered if there is anything current to add. Also, what would be a reasonable price for one that was lightly used?

The seller is asking $2100 but I'm thinking a fair price is $1800.

I bought one in the 2008 housing downturn for $2000 in like new condition which felt like a steal. $2100 seems cheap for the Phoenix area. I looked online and new is $4300. Depends on how badly you want one and your timeframe. Want on in a few weeks and you choice is really $2100 or $4399. Buying on a lark and looking for a killer deal, maybe try lower that $2100. I would not sell mine for less than $2700 and it looks about the same as the one you posted.

The one posted is in San Diego but there is a higher end 1632-3 Powermatic in Phoenix for $2500. Might be worth the drive. I really haven't come across a strong need for a drum sander so far but that's what I said about a recently purchased horizontal sander. It's turned out to be a nice addition to the shop.

I was looking for a little more feedback but went ahead and purchased the Powermatic DDS-225, 25" dual drum sander. Seems to be well built. It's certainly heavy.
