Hi All,

I have a coffin smoothing plane from Knight Toolworks that I purchased in 2004. Does anyone know if they are still in business? Was hoping to get another iron to do a micro-bevel for multiple cutting angles. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No, I called him a couple months ago. He spoke to me about some questions I had. His business is https://cncrouting.biz/ and you can reach him via that email / number.

My smoother was supplied with a tool steel blade.

Ron Hock should have something suitable.
You may need to make a dedicated wedge, to account for a different thickness.

Heartwood tools represents HNT gordon which uses thick single blades in their design.

Thanks for the replies. Wanted a matching iron but looks like the HNT Gordon irons are about the same.

Russell, many moons ago I purchased a plane from Steve. It came with a special handmade Chinese laminated blade. This was 1/4" thick. As such it was perfectly interchangeable with my HNT Gordon blades, and I would use in a HNT Gordon smoother occasionally. The Chinese blade is about a third longer than the HNT Gordon.

I have the O1 HNT Gordon blades, but I hear good things about their HSS blades.

Regards from Perth
