I need a sleeve for a housing that takes a 62mm OD bearing.
The housing is damaged, and will need to be machined to round (I got this machine used, so I don't know what happened).

The next size bearing available is 68mm OD, too big, there is not enough meat on the housing to machine 3mm away.

The depth of the housing is about 23mm, but my machinist can trim a sleeve to length if it is longer.

Thanks!
Mark

Usually you would machine up a sleeve, bore the bearing pocket, press in the sleeve and then bore to finish dimensions.

Why can't your machinist make the sleeve?

No doubt he can but it should be cheaper to buy a ready made sleeve than have one custom made.

I've only seen them for shafts, and inch sizes. But I haven't looked beyond McMaster.

Depending on the accuracy and load requirements, a sleeve rolled from shim stock, a slip fit in the housing, and loctite might be a viable solution.

Check with a bearing supplier. They will most likely have what you need, or can order it in. Google "Sleeve for bearing housing," and you will find your answer.
