Are there switches for lamp cords that don't make the connection to the wire with two tiny prongs that are stabbed into the insulation?

Some lamps are designed so the switch must be on the cord. Inside typical switches for the cord, you find they attach to a wire by having tiny sharp prongs that pierce the insulation. I find this design basically unreliable. If the cord is moved around much, the connection become intermittent. Is there a better type of lamp cord switch? If so, how can I tell that I'm buying a better type without opening it up before purchase?

I've not had trouble with the insulation displacement type. That said, this one has screw terminals: https://www.amazon.com/Pass-Seymour-5406BKCC10-Switch-120-volt/dp/B00826P0AO/ref=pb_allspark_session_sims_desktop_60_2/133-7984959-1777461?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00826P0AO&pd_rd_r=814b14cc-d969-49f3-997a-53922d50e809&pd_rd_w=HeWHQ&pd_rd_wg=TL6Lr&pf_rd_p=e500004d-dce5-4973-9afd-bba519c83f08&pf_rd_r=P6KJWBP0WQZG9RB324WA&psc=1&refRID=P6KJWBP0WQZG9RB324WA

This one looks like it is for a heavier cord than the typical zip cord on your average floor or table lamp. It may involve some innovation to provide the proper strain relief if Stephen's lamp has a lighter cord.

I just bought some of these-

The drawback is you have to switch it at the outlet or run an extension cord and put it in the middle. They also make a 2 prong version.

Grandbrass.com should have what you want. They sell quality products.

On the same Amazon page that Paul linked to, in the featured items list there is a two pack of inline switches that says are for table lamps and such. They have screw terminals. Price is 7.99 for the two. HTH.
