Bullet box....

Dick Parr sent me this wonderful piece of spalted elm and unfortunately the box I turned from it my wife hates. Loves the wood hates the design. Well, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

The box is 2 1/4" in diameter and 4 1/2" tall. It had some soft spots that were very splintery. Thanks for the wood Dick.

Great job Mike, I like it.:D It was an odd shaped piece of wood to start with so there wasn't much else you could do with it. It was just pretty with all the spalting.

Now, Michael, don't come through the monitor at me, but I couldn't help but think that the box also is slightly similar in shape to a certain appliance most frequently used by single women...perhaps that has something to do with why she doesn't like it?
Personally, I think it looks great. I'm all for imaginative shapes in turning, and those are hard to come by these days!

Hey Big Mike that is a Bullet Box for sure. Great wood, turnsmanship and finish. I agree this would look great in a gun cabinet or on the old SNL.:D
