This is a kitchen that I just finished today. I just thought I would share a few pics of the completed project. The material is red oak (of course) with minwax golden oak stain.

You don't usually see arches at the bottoms of the doors - nice touch.

Looking good Jim, from one cabinet maker to another.
I like the arched rails on the lower parts of the upper doors. Those are a lot more work, but really stand out.
To the left of frig., upper cabs, I notice two cabs without doors, just flat panels.

Just ply for the end cab inserts? Looks good!!

Flat panels are on a valance above the desk and bookcase. I used flat panels on the sides of the cabinets and thought those would look ok up there but if I had it to do all over again I would try something else. She didn't want anything curved up there.

Ok. Now I follow. I just thought that one upper was a cabinet without doors. Couldn't see under there from here. ;)
Theres probably a light under the valance?

Steve:)

Very nice. I'd like to learn more about how you did the counters? We're thinking of doing something similar.

I hope your students see that and realize what a fantastic teacher they have... and when you retire, I bet you won't lack for work.

Nice job

Matt,

I use MDF for the counter top substrate and apply a molding 3/4" x 2" to the edge with glue and staples. I then belt sand the surfaces perfectly flush so there is no surface issues with the laminate. I applyed my laminate with Formica brand contact(much better in my opinion) over the entire surface including the edge molding. I trimmed flush with the edges and then ran a 1/4" roundover down the molding leaving the thickness of the laminate as the reveal at the top of the router bit. I make the molding using my W&H molder and it really is a base board molding flipped upside down and made more narrow. I also used 5 x 12' sheets of laminate to prevent having any seams even in the corner.

Well, sort of but not really. I'm a full time teacher and a part timer professional woodworker. About 18 more months of the teaching then it is off to work as a full time professional woodworker, cabinet maker for short.:p My website is hagerwoodworks.com

Not really, I lost count. I've had this one in the shop since late last summer. I've had to lay it back several times to fill door and drawer front orders from contractors in the area. I ain't got a clue at this point.

That degree of excellence is what I aspire too. Beautiful workmanship. The lady of the kitchen should be beaming with pride.

Jim,

WOW! nice big project, good place for a desk also. My computer is in the basement, if I had a place like that in my kitchen it would be nice.
