One in Madrone435895
And a Gent. :) 435896
Just making like a termite. :)

Beauties Ron. The ebony against the brass and the plate is striking in contrast. I have always liked your details.

Love the madrone saw. Beautiful. Is it available?

I like the Ebony ones. If I didn’t have joinery saws I’d be tempted :)

The Ebony saws were sold very quickly. I would have liked to have kept those myself. :(

I can understand why they all sell quickly! I tend to favor the madrone and gents wood, but that’s just me. I like seeing a lot of grain. Someday, Ron, someday....

That half back saw is definitely something that I don't need but certainly want. It doesn't look like Ron is selling these anymore.

Good morning, Hilton.
I actually do still make them, but they go poof about as fast. I do have a couple of them laid out in resin infused maple burls, for myself. Just a question of getting to them. I just finished a single loop in Claro. Left handed no less. Why? I don't remember. The blank was cut out and put in a drawer a couple of years ago. I have since made some subtle changes. With respect to hang angle, I used to make a 20* and 25* version. Now I just make a 23*. When things went south a few years ago, I decided to make some changes. No more 2 year back logs, etc. I may be changing the way the brass backs are fastened as well. No more lock-tite or glue, but still removable. That's another story. Hoping to add a triple loop dovetail at some point to match the triple half back. At least that's the plan. :) Time will tell.
Best wishes

Ron, I'm just curious, but why didn't you make double the number of saws?

I'm just reminded of a line in the movie Contact, by the H.R. Hadden character, "First rule in government spending: why build one when you can have two at twice the price?"

Many years ago, my dad made a mission style bed in solid oak for my sister, it would have been trivial for him to make two, but I didn't go for it, I wish I had. You can take a look at it here (https://photos.app.goo.gl/kg5kj8PZEnVmGkr48).

Hi Rafael.
In the last 2 months or so I have made 21 saws of different types, styles and sizes. That's a record for me. If I am not at work, that pays the bills, I am at work in my little shop. If all I did was make one saw I could make more of them faster. I do tend to do things in batches, but as life dictates, I do not have a CNC of any kind. ( yet ) So all my saws are rasped, sanded, and filed by hand. Besides...I am old and slow. That's my story and I am sticking to it.:D

Ron, I didn't mean to imply you were slacking off, but since you said you wished you had kept the ebony handled ones... Pretty soon you will be like Bill Carter, bidding on his own planes at auctions to try to buy them back ;)

can you explain what is the value of piercings? cosmetic only?
loops, just for show?
gorgeous saws...
what is cutting depth of the 18" at the handle?

Hi Bill.
The piercings are just cosmetic, unless you tie a string to them to hold a tooth guard on. :) They are high enough on the plate not to interfere with anything. As with the single, double, triple loops. Just cosmetic/ style. The distance under the tote on the half back is approx. 3".
Best wishes
