Wide width Spiraling cutter

Has anyone made a wide Width Spiraling cutter ? The Sorby Cutters are nice, but looking for the same hand held design, in a wide width cutter. Since those cutters look like Gears, couldn't a Machine shop that makes gears, just make a duplicate large width cutter ? Thinking 1/4 to 1/2 inch Spirals.

Sorby makes a 1/4" (6mm) cutter. Don't think 1/2" is feasible. The cutter/tool will have to be very large in diameter for it to function. I guess you caould make one that big.
