Having this beast delivered in 3 weeks-Model MJOIN12X86-5-1 Laguna - 12" Parallelogram Jointer with ShearTec II

and need to get a mobile base so when I pluck it off the crate with a cherry picker, I can set it down onto the base and I can then move it as needed. It does needs to be mobile, and although this comes with wheels, they aren't swiveling, so moving 900#s only side/side isn't really an option. Short of building my own, which I can do, but prefer not to right now, just too busy, any idea where to buy one that'll fit? I am told dimensions of the base are 50 1/2" x 21 1/2". Having a hard time finding one that size.
TIA!!! Dave

I would probably go with a Bora Portamate PM3550 (1500lbs rating) and a set of 36" extension rails and connectors

A pallet jack or Zambus casters would be better given that larger jointers with steel bases like to stay in one ( or if moved to the same place ) so as to not twist or change the settings for the tables. You at least want a bases that lifts the wheels out of the way so they don't support the machine while at rest. Dave

I built a mobile base for my 12" jointer using leveling casters--like Zambus. They work well but I recommend using casters with lock levers you can control with your feet. PITA to bend over and rotate the adjustment wheel.

thanks so much a John. I saw the pictures and was also looking at the Zambus levelers. Great on both counts. But you’re right that would be a pain. Do you, or anyone, know of any heavy duty casters with foot levers like you mention? I am almost ready to order a bora adjustable base, but not excited about that because the levelers are so small to be the main feet for a 1000# machine.

The Bora has at each caster. hey are plenty strong enough for the weight of you machine.

I understand David's concern about twisting the base as you deploy or release each caster, but unless you have a mobile base that deploys/releases two casters at a time, that stress is still possibly there.

Also, if the machine base is so flimsy that it twists and likewise the same with the machine tables, I don't think I'd want that machine.

I don't think you'll have an issue with the Bora, the rails are pretty sturdy.
