Here is my first box turned from apple. This piece of wood came from my buddy Dick Parr who sent me some wonderful chunks of wood perfect for turning boxes.

I found apple to be a little splintery and I had to be careful while turning near any sharp corners to avoid chip out. This box is a smidgeon over 2" in diameter and is about 2 1/2" tall. Polished up like glass. Thanks for looking.:D

Well, at least somebody can keep apple wood together.!!!! I haven't turned a piece of apple yet that hasn't split or severly cracked.:(

Very nice work and I love the colors in this wood.

I have never worked apple, but do admire it. The pre WWII Disstons are distinguished from the post WWII saws (Beech) by their apple handles. Much color variation, but a wondrfully smooth, comfortable wood in the hand. Nice box!
