Which of you live in Washington State? The home of big leaf maple and the Olympics.

Well, I am in Oregon... Home to big leaf maple, which I seldom turn, Pacific Madrone my favorite wood, and Oregon Myrtle wood which is actually a California Bay Laurel....

Have you had dinner at The Willows Inn?

I have - quite an experience, but once was enough. They’ve been offering free dinners to go on Wednesdays as a response to the isolation since their farm is still producing. Good stuff and a nice treat for us locals.

Just as a matter of interest, I have not seen Russell Neyman post anything for a while, hope he is okay?
Rgds,
Richard.

Kingston, Washington here, but I'm very much a noob in the turning arts.

Russell still actively posts in the Facebook Olympic turners group. I turned my first bowl with him as over instruction.

Anyone in the Hoodsport/Shelton area?
There are several turners - and many that would fit nicely into the ‘world class’ category in the area. There are clubs in Olympia, Bremerton, Seattle, Mt Vernon, Fife and Sequim that I know of. I know of a few in the Shelton area. Go to the AAW site and you can locate the club or clubs closest to you. Its a good way to meet turners and share info.

My studio is in Port Orchard and I spin shavings every single day!

I bet there are 5000 serious wiidturners within a 250-mile radius of Seattle. There are about a dozen clubs in Oregon and Washington.

I’m doing well. Just been busy. Expect some new threads soon. I upgraded lathes and will share that experience.

Moving to Mt Vernon from Stanwood. Had to put my lathe in storage last fall after we sold our house. The new house won't be done until December so I have been dying waiting and planning my new shop.
