Can anyone help me find a supplier for the material pictured? It's used on a stand to staple the bottom of corrugated boxes shut.

It may be you are looking for what is known as > pronged rubber mat < Not sure if you are going to have much luck finding something with tall prongs like the one in your image.

If you are looking for just one piece you may be better off redesigning the stand.

I don't get it. What is the advantage over a regular old fashioned foot operated a box stapler like I used forty years ago?

The cost for one. If one is in a small shop, you might only need 10 - 20 boxes in a week and not every week. The big hand stapler can handle low volume. Having a stand can be a lot of help. At one time my job was in the shipping and receiving department.

I see at least two foot operated staplers now on ebay for under $200. I do not understand what that special mat does for stapling or how the handheld pneumatic box staplers work. With any stapler make sure you can buy staples that fit. I have three big hand staplers and they use three different size staples. I think my air stapler uses one size that it shares with one of the hand staplers. The simple hand paper staplers only have two common sizes.

Besides taking up a lot of room when not in use, that one is local pickup only and that might be a deal breaker for a purchase from WI to FL.

The company I work for would never allow one of those units on the floor. We had foot operated riveters and pneumatic vises that were switched to two hand anti-tie down operation. Ever see what a finger looks like after having a 1/4 inch rivet driven through it? The advantage of not having a floor unit is we have to stock staples and parts for only the hand held units. They can be used to make the bottom of the box and close it after the product is placed inside.

Some of our operations are higher volume, several hundred per shift. We use only one tool to make the bottom and close the box after product placement. Saves floor space and parts inventory.
