I picked a new, but returned to Amazon, Festool Carvex 420 Jigsaw a while ago.

It was missing some parts out of the Systainer, but the saw and power cord were there.

Anyway, I ordered a Festool Trail Rail supplemental base, that allows me to use a Festool track as a straight edge.

Inside the box was this lanyard thing with a little plastic key thing on one end.

I have no idea what this is used for.

Well, at least you have a nice little key lanyard for your efforts! Nice saw...you'll enjoy it.

Oh that's interesting...guess I've got an excuse to tell the wife I need a Kapex now...:)

It’s the key to making this the saw all that Festool says it can be ;).

Actually, it’s a key to lock the power button according to the manual. Only usable on European version. Your post made me curious enough to look it up as that key and most of the accessory kit have sat in their sustainer for the past 7 years.
