Was digging around in the tool chests, today....was on a fact-finding mission. I remember having a "Cape Chisel" somewhere...while digging through, found a stack of neglected old tools:rolleyes:

Which got cleaned up, the Utica Wrench got a drop of oil to make it work better.
As for the cape Chisel..

Wicked looking thing, a HERBRAND 410....
But...there was a couple IRWIN "sockets"...3/8" square drive..
431745
Nothing really special here...didn't know Irwin made sockets..turn these two over..

Maybe remove headless bolts? Smaller one is marked for 5/16"/ 8mm? Large one seems to be a 10mm size...best as I can make out...

Not pictured...a two flute, Carbide dovetail bit...1/4" shank, 23/64"/9.13mm cutter width?

Amazing what one can find, when digging around in an old tool box.:D

Yes, they are to remove bolts with heads rounded off. Basically an easy out for the head end of a bolt. They are still in production as far as I know. I have a full set.

Was also wondering about that small dovetail bit....bigger than a 1/4" bit....smaller than a 1/2" bit....maybe made for use in a trim router? Shank is just barely 1-1/4" long...have no idea how it got into my shop....

The one Snap-On ratchet is from the early 1930s ...F-70, with the "needle" shifter/selector...and...still works great.

If I had to guess the dovetail bit is a cape chisel for metal working

Dovetail bit....dug out my 1/2" bit...
431803
And set it beside the skinny bit...
431804
Bit is a hair bigger than 1/4"...drill index says it is an 11/32" diameter. IF it had markings on the 1/4" shank, they are long gone.

Tappett wrench...found the other 2 I remember having...

Moving stuff around to get the new saw til in place...found these two,,,,hiding around..

A 12" and a 14" backsaw...both are filed crosscut. The 12" will need sharpened, barely any teeth left. The 14" has good teeth, fairly sharp...but, again, filed cross cut. My go-to Disston #4 is sitting in the door of the tool cabinet, safe and sound....

IF Chuck's Sharpening Service over in Piqua, OH is open...may drop these 2 "extra" backsaws off. There was a 3rd one....a FUBAR backsaw....ugly handle, bad plate..may just toss it out...
