I saw in an ad that Leigh has redesigned the D4 jig.
Has anyone seen or have the D4R?
Is it an improvement over the D4?

Historically, Leigh has upgraded the dovetail system every once in awhile, so no doubt there are some improvements. They also have historically offered "upgrade" parts to owners of earlier models for those who just have to have the latest and greatest. You can read about the enhancements at http://www.leighjigs.com/d4.php ...earlier versions may not be retrofitable to the "R" version I suspect since it appears that they have clued off some of the construction details of the smaller D1600. It's not just knob designs, etc. There is a good comparison chart at http://www.leighjigs.com/download/Comparison%20Chart-1.pdf

The one change I'm aware of is that the alignment pins are now machined on the base itself. So you no longer have those left and right brackets that are somewhat of a pain to adjust (speaking as a D4 owner. ;) )
