Hi everyone

My name is Stefan and since two days I'm a member of this forum.
To my person: I grew up in south Germany and there I made my apprenticeship as carpenter (building timber frame houses, stairs and railings, roofs, interior carpentry).

In summer 2003 I immigrated into Canada (near Goderich - Ontario) and started as a farm labour on a cash crop farm. Then in spring 2004 I started, besides farming, my own business in wood constructions. Right now one half of my tools fits into my Jeep Grand Cherokee, where the other half is stored in two shelves at home. When my business becomes a certain size I would like to move into my own little shop with some bigger stationary machines in it. At the moment I have to use a friends shop to accomplish bigger jobs.

I hope to be a usefull member to this forum and also get some good ideas for my business.

Stefan, welcome to Saw Mill Creek, and a belated welecome to Canada.

You live in a beautiful part of Ontario. My wife, Margaret, and I usually manage to visit the Goderich area at least once a year.

Stefan - Welcome to the Creek! And I'm especially pleased to see that you have a timberframing background. We should double team the stickbuilders in here and get them to see the light.

Thanks to everyone!

to Jason:
Yes, I'm a German. When I checked our family tree, only Geremans were in it (and that's a really old family tree). By the way could it be that your name sounds a bit Dutch?

Welcome Stefan, I see you mention southern Germany, where? I come from Augsburg. I moved over here in 1973 with my family as a child, a little before you were born  I still go back every year or two depending on economics to visit my family.

Hi Jim

With this link you can see where I lived, before I moved to Canada.
This was about 2.5 hours from Augsburg away.
