Just dug this out of my storage area. Just needs tires, find the belts, mount the motor and use it. Still sporting its original paint with nothing really missing or broken.

It will get a board up the left side for the blade and maybe one on the guide post if possible and that's it.

Not going to alter a 140 year old saw with original paint for some wheel covers.

Got the tires epoxied on today. Found an odd thing on upper wheel. It's a riveted strap repair, but I can't find any evidence of a crack, break or any repair on that wheel. Maybe a repair at the factory due to machining issue? Maybe voids in the casting? Whatever it's for, it's been like that forever. 430737

Its Dykem, or high spot blue.
I am scraping the bearing in after the pour.
Trying to get an even print from end to end.
No need for full coverage, I shoot for about 50% with even from end to end being most important.

Thanks, I have heard the word scraping used with babbit bearings, never saw it done or knew exactly what was happening

I needed more aggressive means.

Turned down the taper on a spindle sander spindle and chucked it up in the mill.

Back together after I altered the offset guide mounts. Need a bit longer blade, but i found one that fit.
Adjusted the lower wheel position and the saw tracks great and is square to the table in both directions.
Will need to make wood lower guide. Motor, belts, starter, left. 431413

Will you be building some kind of guard to cover that exposed blade at the back of the machine? That seems to me to be the big "accident waiting to happen" for this particular saw relative to human interaction. It sure is an elegant design to look at!

There is a bracket on the frame to mount a piece of wood to, to run up the left side of the saw. That will keep material from bumping into the blade on the up path.

That will be the only thing added.

That's good to know. Aside from material hitting the blade moving up, it's an area I'd be concerned with human contact, too...Murphy works in amazing ways sometimes. ;)

I'm not worried about myself and my late 1800s equipment is for my personal use in my shop, plenty things more dangerous than this.
