I was given an old Craftsman Copy Crafter and would like to use it to learn a bit of wood turning.
The problem I have is in the tail stock, or dead center.
It does not spin freely, or at all for that matter.
I have disassembled it, and tried many things to get it to work with no luck.
Maybe it's missing a part, I don't know.
I have looked at exploded parts drawings on line and, from what I can tell all parts are there.
Any tips or advise?

It may be that it is indeed a dead center, one that does not rotate. They were common on lathes of that era. You lubricate it with a bit of wax or grease and the wood spins against a non-moving point.

I have a Sears Router-Crafter unused in it's original box (anybody want one?). If it's the same thing I could go look at it.
