Looks useful.
Any experience with one?

About 35 years worth. They were called Black and Decker "Workmates".

haha, couldn’t be more correct. I have two of them. Couldn’t get by without them.

They can certainly fill a need in many situations. I, too, have an old B&D Workmate. (Someone recently posted a thread about a resource site they have that shows the different generations of the Workmate product)

Dave,I should have explained how useful they are in my first post. My dad got one in all the "buzz" around the advertisements on TV back in the day. We used it to sharpen chainsaws and cut up lots of 2"x4'' s. I used it as a young teen learning to use a skilsaw. Kind of a handy mini bench,vise- sawhorse. I have nabbed two or three over the years as I ran into them and use them at my shop for all the above ,as well as work support when working alone.

I would think the Menards unit shown would be kinda tippy given that the table is supported only on the two center posts. Maybe tippy isn't the right word. How about wobbly. You might be better off picking up an old Workmate and putting a new top on it.

I have one of the originals and use it all the time. One of the best Christmas gifts I ever got! It's a little chewed up but still strong and stable. Love it.

I have two workmates, and use them fairly often.
