If I'm looking at getting a good all purpose miter saw should I be looking at 10" or 12"?
Thanks again for the good input.

Do you have a need to cut 4X4's up all day? I'm just a novice but that's my general perspective on 12" saws of any kind. A friend has a 10" table saw and a 12" Bosch mitre saw. Loves them both but he wish's he was only into one size of blade. Rarely would a home crafter need such a heavy weight tool. IMHO.

i`ll second jims opinion, unless you`re wealthy make good use of your blades, a good neg. rake mitersaw blade on the tablesaw does wonders for veneered plywood......02 tod

I think your money is better spent on a slide compound miter saw. Either a 10" or 12". These saw are the work horse of all finish carpenters I work with and give you much more flexibility over a miter saw. Look to see how far past 45 degrees they go in miters and bevels and in both directions. I do all stair work, most stairscases are at 42 degrees, so I have a real need to get to 48 degrees.
