Hi.
I’ve had a Makita 2012NB for over a year with regular knives, until I updated couple of days ago to the Shelix.
i’ve never had a significant problem with snipe before and the tables werent set co-planer nearly as well as they are now. The tables are now quite good. It feels like when the second set of rollers engage, it tips the matl and leaves nearly approx 1/32” deep snipe about 2 inches long at the start of the cut. This appears to be a problem mostly on stock over an inch thick.
it’s been a frustrating couple of days.
Edit: As a test I laid 4 layers of masking tape on the near end on the infeed table. That seems to have cleared the prob entirely, so I’ll raise that table a bit and call it a fix.
The Shelix is an excellent upgrade. I do work w white oak and red maple heavy pallet wood quite a bit. Indexing an insert instead of changing knives for a missed staple or nail seems hugely attractive. Here’s a sample of original designs.427803
