New to the forum...
I just bought the new Grizzly G0586 jointer and was wondering if anyone has seen the new 15" spiral head planer??? I am interested in this machine...

No, but I did see a 15" planer run last week with an aftermarket helical head. Very impressive cut in figured wood. Plus low noise.
I'm leaning toward carbide inserts.

I am too leaning towards the carbide insert cutter head... I can live without it on my jointer but the planer, that will be a dream come true!!! I think it will be a much easier task to change or in fact rotate inserts than change and adjust knives... Time well spent in my opinion!!!

Hey Rob,

I think some of our "common friends" saw the planer at the AWFS woodworking show in Las Vegas this summer.
