Hi all,

Hope you had a wonderful week and have some fun weekend plans.

Do you have any companies you recommend for branding irons? There's so many...

I bought the electric one from Rockler on sale with a free head lettered with your choice of 2 or 3 different patterns. It works very well. I do one or two practice burns right before I brand my items. Although you can press straight on, this requires more accuracy than I can provide given the frequency that I use the iron. I press straight on and then rock left, right, up and down about 1 degree. This gives me a nice clear brand every time.

I'll have an image from a designer. Not using a std font or design, etc.

Does Rockler deal with custom images?

They offer this as well. This was my first iron so I just added my name to a stock image. Look for Rockler's 'signature' or 'logo' branding iron for prices on your image.

No affiliation. Others reported Rockler's electric irons working well so I went that way.

I have one from Rockler and it works great. Just make sure you practice a bit on scrapes to get the feel for how long it takes to brand in the specific wood you are using.

I used this vendor, got a flame heated brand that is my signature. Terry is a nice guy to work with.

Apologies to the OP for a small hi-jack of the thread but I think the question is very relevant.

I've been thinking about a branding iron for a couple years, but I decided I would want one with an image and a date (month, year) that I can change as needed. I've never found this capability in several google searches over the years, including today after reading this thread. So, the question is if anyone has come across anything like this?

Thanks!
