Have a friend who purchased a use PC 7529 type1 router and need the adapter they had for their router guide. The part #88751 is discontinued. Is there a replacement part availably or does he need to purchase a new type of plate for his router that will accept the adapter?

It may be more expedient to buy or make a new sub-base that's setup for "standard" PC type guide bushings. There's nothing that forces one to use the OEM subbase that requires the triangular adapter.

That is what I told him but he thinks it would be better.

Well, if he can find the part somewhere, that would be great. Unfortunately, the PC7529 was discontinued long ago and most sources for parts probably are pretty dry I would think. But if he can't find the OEM part...the only option is as I described unless he wants to pay big bucks for someone to machine a new one directly.

I don't think he is going to do that. LOL

Tell him to make one. It would be an interesting project.

And it's not hard, especially since the 7529 is a plunge router. I've made a few base plates, used 3/8" acrylic for more 'meat'. I've posted my procedure here in the past. I use a 'vix' bit, V bit and 1/8" drill bit and 2 forstner bits, don't recall the sizes off hand.
