I have a problem with my bandsaw. Recently I have tried to make turning blanks from various sized logs and slabs and the saw blade stalls and binds, and comes to a stop before I can back off the cut. I back off and the blade gets back up to speed, but there is no "umph"--no power. I have made similar cuts in the past without a problem. I got a new blade--same issue. The belt is not slipping--a buddy stood behind the saw and watched what was happening. The blade is not slipping on the tires. I called Jet and they said it was either a capacitor, the centrifugal switch, or the motor. I've done some research. It seems that, since the blade appears to come up to normal speed, it can be the capacitor or switch, and I'm stuck with replacing the motor. Any comments from anyone who know far more about this than I do? Thanks.

A capacitor or switch is less expensive than a motor. You can take them both off and have them tested.
I have that saw and it is a good one. I have the riser block in mine.

Check the pulleys to make sure they are secured properly.
