Wound up walking through Heart of Ohio Antique Center....well...maybe a little less than 1/2 way through....Only found 2 items that would fit into my budget for the day...Had $32 available...spent $27. 35 ( because I got a 10% discount..)

Anyway.....walked past 20 sharpening stones, couple thousand wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers....and found a small saw....
426430
Still have to remove the black tape, spine is painted black...$3.....Had a few other items in hand....until this one stall....just could not set one item back onto the shelf....$25 before discount...had to set a few items back...but that plane was coming home with me..
426431
15" long...2-3/4" wide...cutter is 2-3/8" wide
Sole looks good..(no paint, either)
426432
Looks like I have a bunch of paint to remove..
426433
Handles are in great shape, no paint....however..
426434
Even the brass wheel is maroon? Millers Falls No. 15....With OEM iron, too...

Not too bad of a day....Stopped in at the new Harbor Freight store.....twice the size of the one in Lima, OH....6" sanding discs, peel& stick....out and about, all by meself, today.

I did check out those "new" clamps they have.....pin in the trigger is steel....meh.....I don't use that style of clamps....

On the plane, I used automotive black paint and it worked.

Just plain old black Rustoleum will do...from this..
426447
Knock the loose stuff off, and..
426448
Same with the rest of the parts...
426449
To...
426450
One piece bolts were used on the Type 3, during WW2....same applies to the depth wheel...all steel
426451
Edge of the iron was chipped...took a while...
426452
All bolts got a drop of oil, iron still has a very small knick ( next sharpening)
426453
Cardinal Red to infill the lever cap...left the paint on the frog alone, at least on the sides...cleaned the rest off..
426450

So, now I have 3 jack planes..from the same factory...

And...
426454
M-F No. 11, M-F No. 14, and the new M-F No. 15
( #5-1/4, #5, and #5-1/2)
426455
This is one heavy plane..
426456
Might be a keeper?
426457
No cracks, nor pits found...
426458
Not too bad..for $22.50 + Sales Tax?

Ok..Pine is what everyone else uses to show off "Sharp" with...so...how about Ash?
426492
Not too bad, and no tearout, either....had a knotty old piece of White Oak...the before?
426493
Pretty, ain't it....was so bad, I had to plane the other side first...to get things flat enough to hold still...for the after..
426494
I compared a small back saw ..
426495
To the larger one from Heart of Ohio...
426496
Has a few less teeth per inch...cuts a bit slower...
426497
Also on that trip, a stop at the new Harbor Freight store...
426498
Because I needed a new one on the sander...
426499
One disc has been installed.....

Ok...Was putting away a few items for upstairs...that bag from Hobby Lobby...one of the items was a set of new blades for the Xacto set...
426500
First I needed to rehab these handles....collets that hold the blades were frozen in place....tear them apart, clean them up, oil the threads a bit..
426501
Didn't see much in the pile of old blades ( stamped Made in USA) so..
426502
Pack of 5 brand new blades...
426503
And these are ready for work. Red Handle needed a wider blade, though. Also stashed all the new hardware parts....and put a pair of braces away..
426504
P.S.& W. Samson No. 8012...and a Keen Kutter #R 104 10" sweep.....
Then spent a while, starting up the next Project Build-along...

was a busy couple of days....not too bad, though...may use those Xacto knives as marking knives,,,for that "Pristine Knife Wall"
