Now that the rush is over and life gets back to the norm---hopefully.
Here is one of my bigger items I have been turning----ended up 16 inches round and 7 deep---12 oz Dew can used for scale. Really wish I could of got more of the swril to come out in the pics.
Thanks for looking.

Man!!!! That is awesome. Beautiful finish. The can would dwarf most of my stuff. What is the finish. Really shiny.

I really cheat on the finish---my wife does it for me.
She will spend more hours applying coats of finish -- more then I do turning--- hand sanding between coats. It takes over a week just to get one bowl done and a biggie like this will take several weeks and many MANY coats plus hours of sanding.
Put the end result is well worth it.

Excellent job! I am not a connoisseur of turned bowls, but I like this one very much. I can see it filled with holiday nuts and fruits(and I don't mean California residents:D :D .)

Now, Ken...

I don't think we have the market cornered on F & N's...

Have you read your local paper lately? :) :)

Thanks John----we went all out this year running the shows. We have just been working hard trying to get a little something put away for the winter months. This was a good year for us---heck we needed a good one.

Yes, your are correct, John. The temptation was too great to resist. As Flip Wilson used to say, 'the devil made me do it.';)

Very nice bowl, I like everything about it!
Yeah, swirl is hard to photograph, since it depends on how the piece is lit.
You might try shooting without a flash, using a tripod if you have one. Natural light, especially from the side of the piece, might help. It just depends on which way the grain runs related to the direction of the light.
