Down here in South Georgia the fence rows were heavly populated with an abundance of wild plum trees when I was a wee lad, but they are a thing of the past. We grew up tasting the delicious fruits of these red and yellow plums, and they still have great memories for me. A buddy of mine brought me this tree and I turned this 10.25 inches wide X 3.5 inches high bowl which has a lot of color. It was killed by woodborers, and he said it was the last one on his farm. The bowl is finished with lacquer, and you can see where I filled in some voids with coffee grounds and malachite. As always your comments are welcomed.

Now that's a beautiful bowl, Glenn! Love that chunk of wood! The fill job you did really adds to the color of the wood for my eye. Kinda seems to make the color stand out more.

Very nice and thanks for the pictures!

Now, that's really neat, Glenn! An extremely interesting piece of wood and you did it right with the nice, simple bowl design. It lets the wood talk!

Nice bowl, Glenn! That's some unusual wood. It's a shame that it is becoming a thing of the past.:(

That is some interesting wood. Well done on the bowl Glenn.

I have a wild plum that blew down in the storm. I'd be nice if it were colored like that.

Gorgeous bowl, Glen. You're lucky you got that bowl out of it before it split.
A friend gave me some plum, only 4-5" dia., but it split within a month.
That must have been a really big tree, as plums go!
