Hello!

I have a 10" Jet Jointer/planer combo. After some tweaks it has worked quite well and gives me the capability of jointing larger boards. The dust collection is a problem, however, in BOTH jointing and planing modes. I have to stop after jointing a few boards to clear out the chips that are on the planer table below on the infeed side otherwise they start spitting up through the rotating blade. Anyone with one of these have a hack for improving the dust collection?

thanks!
Wes

What are you using to collect the dust/chips?

It's hooked up to a Fein turbo II vac with a dust deputy.

That’s the problem, your J/P needs to be hooked up to a dust collector.

You’ll need at least 500 CFM of flow at the machine.

The manual should specify airflow and pressure at the machine port.....Rod

Yup...there's your issue. A shop vac cannot move anywhere close to enough air to remove dust and chips from a big machine like that. Dust collectors are different animals than shop vacs. There's lots of discussion on dust collection systems in the Workshops forum area which may be helpful to you.
