I've been looking for some good articles on making my own spokeshave--I know there are some out there because I've read them before. I just haven't found them again, yet.
I'll be browsing through some books and mags for the next couple days and I'm sure I'll find what I need but I'm wondering if anyone can pop something off the top of their head and maybe post some pics of spokeshaves y'all have made.
Thanks.

If you have not seen it Lee Valley makes a spoke shave kit that I understand it is pretty good. If nothing else it might give you some good idea's.

Oooh! That's an easy one! :D
See John Gunterman's site for instructions:

I've made one from them and it works like a charm.
(Blade from Ron Hock at: http://www.hocktools.com/products.htm) (http://www.hocktools.com/products.htm%29).

I bought the LeeValley kit (http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=49710&cat=1,50230&ap=1)and it gives my 2 full evenings of fun ! Really cool experience. It comes with a very usefull book of instructions with many details. There are so many instructions there, you couldn't have any concerns when making it. I recommand it. It is easy to make your own spokeshave with this kit, even for a beginner in woodworking.
Here is a pics of mine that I made with bird's eye maple and tung oil.

I made a couple of the Lee Valley kits too, and documented the whole process (http://www.cornishworkshop.co.uk/spokeshavekit.html) in agonising detail, fwiw... :o

There is also a plan in the recent issue of ShopNotes. Similar to the LV kit.

I made Gunterman's back when he was selling them as kits, it works just fine and was done in a few hours.

If I recollect correctly, the FWW Tools and Shop issue recently had an article on making a shave using a blade from Hock. Looks to be the same blade as the LV kit, but the adjustment on the FWW one is less user friendly.
I made the LV kit a while back, and it works great.

Mike,
That's exactly what I'm lookin' for. Very cool. I've been studying the site for a while and I think that's what I'm going to shoot for at least for my first spokeshave. Thanks for the link.

Alice,
Unbelievable! Great pics and text. After making the Gunterman spokeshave I think I'll give the Lee Valley kit a shot. Thanks.
