Hi All,

Took some time between "real" projects to add some drawers to my bench:

423902

423903

Was a quick project for a change, and I even had all the materials laying around. The Oak plywood for the carcass was left over from a kitchen remodel 20-25 years ago and it measured dead on .75 thick. Don't see that much these days. Drawer boxes are BB plywood "Norm" specials with solid oak false fronts. I debated about 2 columns of drawers or three, but really wanted to be able to fit 24 inch rules and squares in, so I went with two. Drawers are 22" deep by about 27 wide.

I turned the bench around 180 degrees from original placement because I found it handy to have the assembly table behind me while working at the bench. I can set tools there, or stage parts, etc. I kept finding myself working at the back of the bench when it was turned the other way, so I figured, why fight it.....

Now to fill those drawers up!

That looks very nice Paul.

What type of slides did you use?

Thanks Rod!

I went with side mount full extension to maximize the depth of the drawers and access to the contents. I ended up using Value Line brand slides from Cabinet Parts. Normally use accuride for side mounts, but for such an undemanding application I decided to try them out as they were on sale for a decent price. They seem well made and sturdy and slide as well as side mounts do; time will tell if they hold up.
