Stanley 71 cutter. Received badly sharpened, multiple facets, uneven grinds. Tried to level the flat, have ended up with close to a 25% bevel, rather than the original 30%, and still nowhere near to the cutting edge. Ready to order a new cutter from Lee Valley. Seriously flustrated.

I've used this method at Derek's suggestion. It works and works well. I'm tempted to craft a wooden barrel shaped honing strop to charge with compound and get that extra sharp edge using the same jig.

There is another video on that page....one by Paul Sellers....basically what I just got through using with mine.....
