I have a 1 1/2 HP Steel City dust collector. Its probably about 7 years old. It keeps tripping the internal circuit breaker or fuse every time I try to start it. Im not sure if this is fixable or if its just time for a new machine. Suggestions?

Is it a 240 vac or 120 vac motor. Do you have schematics for the device?

Do you mean the thermal overload internal to the motor?

It sounds to me like a motor starting circuit issue. I order of ease of repair, hopefully it's just the starting capacitor, then the centrifugal start switch. Lastly, and it would be a death sentence for the motor, would be a burned out start winding. Even the start switch would probably render it uneconomical to repair unless you do it yourself.

Possibly needs a new capacitor.
